Die CD Waves Of Probability ist ein wenig untergegangen, ungewollt. Dabei markiert sie einerseits das wohl definitive Ende meiner persönlichen Sopransaxophon-Ära - neben zwei Klavierstücken ist ausschließlich das Altsaxophon zu hören -, als vielleicht ebenso die Abwendung vom Saxophon über-haupt -, und es gibt 12(!) Versionen vom Cover, mit Fotos, die meine Tochter Lou gemacht hat.  

Unfortunately the cd Waves Of Probability was unintentionally neglected by me although it marks both the probably definite end of my soprano-sax era and the abandonment of the saxophone in general. And there are 12(!) versions of the cover, with photos made by my daughter Lou.

Und jetzt ist diese CD wieder in den Fokus gerückt, denn ich erarbeite mir gerade ein Repertoire aus älteren Stücken, die ich für das Melodion transponiere und/oder bearbeite. Als ich neulich überlegte, welches meiner Stücke als nächstes dran wäre - mir war nach einer Komposition mit einer klaren Struktur - kam ich auf Zany. Das ist ein langes Stück eben von der CD Waves Of Probability. Während ich es einübte, hörte ich mir nocheinmal die Altsaxophon-Version zur Gänze an und war überrascht von der Stringenz des Soloteils, der mir streckenweise wie komponiert vorkam. 

And these days this cd came in sight again for I work on a repertoire consisting on elder pieces which I try to adapt or transpose for the melodion. 2 weeks ago or so when I wanted to choose another piece to adapt, I was seeking for a composition with a clear structure and I found Zany. This is a long piece from Waves Of Probability. While I was working on it, I listened again to the original version and was surprised by the congruity and consistence of the solo which partly almost sounded like composed. So here in full length because it´s a sort of good-bye to the saxophone, Zany.

Und dann folgte noch eine schöne Koinzidenz: vor kurzem habe ich mich nach langer Zeit erneut Monk zugewandt und versuche gerade, jetzt schließlich in C angelangt, einige Stücke erneut „durchzukneten“. Und nachdem ich Zany einigermaßen intus hatte, war Locomotive von Monk dran, und ich erkannte, daß die beiden Stücke wie Zwillinge sind. Beide Kompositionen sind stark repetitiv strukturiert, und auch die Skala von Zany weist große Ähnlichkeit mit dem Hauptakkord von Locomotive auf. Sicherlich werden diese beiden Stücke auf der nächsten CD zusammenkommen. 

Hier schon mal ein erster Versuch:

Locomotive by Monk was part of a beautiful coincidence: not long ago I turned again towards him - after playing his tunes in Bb and Eb I finally reached C -, „kneading“ his chords. And after I had relearned Zany I headed for Locomotive and  realized that they are like twins, these two pieces. Both compositions are quite repetitive and also the main chord of Locomotive is very similar to the scale of Zany. They will definitely come together on the new cd. Above you had a first try.
